As we welcome 2011, let me give some history to our farm. Our farm was established by Sunny and Tony Schilter in the early 70's in Enumclaw, Washington. They eventually moved the farm to Auburn, Washington and milked there for many years. They raised 3 children Wendy, Lonny, and Monty. In the early 90's, they decided to move the farm to Adna, Washington. Adna is a small town located outside Chehalis, Washington in Lewis County. Sunny and Tony built a brand new facility and began milking cows at the current location in 1991.
Since the first cow was milked, the farm has shipped its milk to the Darigold Cooperative. Tony has always said he is a "Cooperative" man and firmly believes Darigold is a great cooperative in the Pacific Northwest. In early 1997, the farm had the opportunity to transition to an organic dairy. They took this opportunity and began to ship milk to Horizon in 1997. They believed that in order for the dairy to survive in the business climate in Western Washington, they needed to take the chance and milk the cows organically.
